Margaret Voytasek
Margaret Voytasek, 93, formerly of Rices Landing, died Tuesday, December 4, 2012, while residing in Nevaeh Cove, Charleroi.
She was born May 22, 1919, in West Brownsville, a daughter of the late John and Anna Kedzuf Kasicky.
A graduate of East Pike Run High School, she was employed by Bush and Marsh Drug Store as a clerk and pharmacy assistant.
Mrs. Voytasek was a member of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Rices Landing and the Rosary Society and Christian Mothers of the church. She also was a member of Slovak Catholic Sokol 146, serving as the financial secretary, for more than 70 years.
She was a grass roots organizer and co-founder of the Opportunity Center Sheltered Workshop, now Greene County ARC, when it was in its infancy.
On August 18, 1947, she married John Voytasek, who died March 12, 1999.
Surviving are three daughters, Bonnie Voytasek of Plum, Lorrie Smearcheck and husband Tom of Pittsburgh and Sharon Schweinsburg and husband Art of Plum; a son, Robert Voytasek and wife Chris of Stuart, Fla.; two granddaughters, Alexis of West Mifflin and KT of Los Angeles, Calif.; and a sister, Elizabeth Kasicky of Charleroi.
Deceased is a sister, Elsie Masney.
Mrs. Voytasek was a devoted wife, mother and loving friend to many. She had many adopted daughters-of-the-heart, who were cherished caregivers and sweet earth angels, Helen Becky, Pat, Kathy, Michele, Kelly, Barb, Pam, Sami, Libby and many others. She will be fondly remembered and sorely missed.
Friends will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday in Behm Funeral Home Inc, 1477 Jefferson Road, Jefferson, PA 15344, Gregory P. Rohanna, supervisor, where a blessing service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 8, with Father Richard Thompson officiating.
