Louis Robert Drop
Louis Robert Drop, 67, of Monessen, died Thursday, December 6, 2012.
He was a son of the late John and Helen Nivert Drop.
Mr. Drop retired as a Charleroi High School chemistry teacher after 37 years. He was a life member of the National Educational Association. He was a Bethlehem-Center high school graduate and went on to obtain two master’s degrees in chemistry from California University of Pennsylvania and University of Notre Dame.
Mr. Drop was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He was a life member of North American Hunting Club.
He was Catholic.
Deceased, in addition to his parents, are stepdaughter Kim Anderson and brother-in-law Jack McElroy.
Surviving are his wife, Jean Plavetich Drop of Monessen; a brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Yochioko Drop of California; a niece and a nephew, Debra and Ronald Drop of California; a brother-in-law, John Plavetich of Monessen; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Fran McElroy of McMurray; nephew John and wife Hilary McElroy, great-nephew Jack Landers McElroy and nephew Ryan McElroy, all of Mt. Lebanon; and a special friend, Stacy Babyak.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday in Robert A. Billick Funeral Home Inc., Grand Boulevard and Marion Avenue, Monessen, PA 15062, 724-684-3700, www.billicksfuneralhome.com, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, December 10, with Father Michael Crookston officiating. Entombment will follow in Grandview Cemetery, Monessen.
