James Hays

James R. Hays, 59, of Bentleyville, died Monday, December 10, 2012, in his home.

He was born May 19, 1953, in Canonsburg, a son of Helen H. Hays of Eighty Four and the late Edwin G. “Bub” Hays.

Mr. Hays was a 1971 graduate of Bentworth High School and was a U.S. Air Force veteran, having served during the Vietnam era as a military policeman and U.S. customs agent.

For many years, he worked for Lincoln Hydraulics in Meadow Lands and later worked for Hallmor Inc. in Bethel Park as a journeyman machinist.

He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Bentleyville.

Mr. Hays enjoyed motorcycling and horseback riding.

On March 19, 1983, he married Carol A. McCann, who survives.

Surviving, in addition to his mother and wife, are a stepdaughter, Jamie Heckman Price and husband Dan of Washington; two stepgrandchildren, Paige and Brandon Price; two sisters, Elaine Fisher and husband Carl of McVeytown and Edwynna Urban and husband James of Eighty Four; and several nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are private and are under the direction of Greenlee Funeral Home, 619 Main Street, Bentleyville.
