Robert Gordon
Robert “Chink” Gordon, 85, died Sunday, December 9, 2012, in Springfield Gardens, N.Y., after suffering with a long illness.
He was born October 3, 1927, in Pulasky, Va., a son of the late Willa Mae Gordon.
Mr. Gordon was raised and went to school in Washington and Pittsburgh.
He retired from the U.S. Navy nuclear submarine force and served on several submarines. He was assigned the prestigious duty as Adm. Hymen Rickover’s personal chef.
Mr. Gordon also retired from the New York City Transit System.
Surviving are his wife, Ruth Durham Gordon; four children, Bobby of Canonsburg, Michael of Chesapeake, Va., Candace of Upper Marlboro, Md., and Jeffrey of Power Springs, Ga.; and two grandchildren, Lindsey and Ricky.
Arrangements are under the direction of J. Foster Phillips Funeral Home, Jamaica, N.Y. Interment will be in Pine Lawn Cemetery, Long Island, N.Y.
