Jennie Valencic
Jennie Valencic, 88, of Meadow Lands, passed away Wednesday, December 12, 2012, in Donnell House, Washington.
She was born December 27, 1923, in Meadow Lands, a daughter of the late John and Jennie Cvetnic Valencic.
Miss Valencic lived her entire life in Meadow Lands, where she was a member of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church and the Christian Mothers and Guild.
She had been employed as an inspector at RCA plants, in both Canonsburg and Meadow Lands, prior to her retirement.
Miss Valencic was a graduate of Chartiers High School.
She wrote and spoke fluent Slovenian and was very proud of her heritage. She visited Slovenia in 1974. She enjoyed her nephew’s accordion playing, many bus trips and picnics with her family and friends.
Surviving are a brother, Frank (Marjorie) Valencic of Strabane and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to her parents, are two brothers, John Valencic Jr., and his twin brother, who died in infancy; two sisters, Mary Lucas and Frances Wozniak; and a nephew, Joe Lucas.
Friends are welcome from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday in Salandra Funeral Service Inc., Joseph P. Salandra, owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, 724-745-8120, where departing prayers will be said at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, December 15, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, Meadow Lands, with the Rev. Carman D’Amico as celebrant. Interment will follow in Woodruff Memorial Park, North Strabane Township. Memorials may be made to Slovenian Radio Hour.
