Bernadette R. “Bernie” Emery, 87, of Eighty Four, died at 9 a.m. Friday, December 14, 2012, in her home.

She was born March 1, 1925, in Greensburg, a daughter of Joseph H. and Bernadette Murray Royed.

Mrs. Emery was a graduate of East Washington High School. She was employed as a postal clerk for the U.S. Post Office in Eighty Four for 26 years, until her retirement.

She was a member of Emmanuel United Presbyterian Church, Canonsburg Senior Citizens and Eighty Four Club.

Mrs. Emery volunteered for American Cancer Society, was a Girl Scout and Brownie leader and worked at Disneyland Animal Kingdom in Florida during some of the winter months.

On August 3, 1947, she married James C. Emery, to whom she had been married for 63 years. He passed away November 6, 2011.

Surviving are a daughter, Cynthia E. “Cynde” (Robert) Merashoff of Scenery Hill; three sons, James C. (Carolyn) Emery Jr. of Eighty Four, D. Thomas (Rose) Emery of Eighty Four and Robert L. (Debora) Emery of Eighty Four; 11 grandchildren, Robert (Michelle) Merashoff, Mark (Candy) Merashoff, Michelle Emery, James (Mandy) Emery III, Tyler (Tayna) Emery, Lisa (John) Harding, Joshua (Brandy) Emery, Sara Emery, Kristin Emery, Ryan Emery and Christine (Joseph) Maser; and 15 great-grandchildren, Jordon Merashoff, Madison Merashoff, Robbie Merashoff, Alehia Emery, Nyla Emery, Lydia Emery, Avryl Emery, Tristin Harding, Jude Harding, Michaella Harding, Chao Emery, Bella Emery, Vincent La Marche, Matthew Maser and Madelyn Maser.

Deceased are a grandson, Matthew Thomas Emery; a brother, Murray Royed; and a sister, Isabelle Engle.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in Warco-Falvo Funeral Home Inc., Wilson at East Katherine avenues, Washington, S. Timothy Warco, supervisor/director, Susan Falvo Warco, director, S. Timothy Warco II, director, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 18. Burial will be private.
