Margaret Dayak Murray
Margaret “Marge” Dayak Murray, 68, of Danville, Va., died Wednesday, December 12, 2012, in Danville Regional Medical Center
She was born May 31, 1944, in Canonsburg, a daughter of the late Margaret Kraynak Dayak and the late Mike Dayak.
Mrs. Murray was married to William George Murray, who survives.
She was a very active and faithful member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She served in many capacities, both for the church and for Sacred Heart School, helped to set up youth programs and faithfully sent greeting cards for years. She retired as coordinator of religious education at Sacred Heart. Prior to that, she served as a teacher’s assistant.
Mrs. Murray was a faithful member of Blue Ridge Cursillo Community and served as president of the Ladies Auxiliary for Knights of Columbus.
She was a lifelong Steelers fan. Throughout her life, she served as a baby sitter, touching the lives of many children.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are a daughter, Melissa A. Layne and husband Anthony of Ringgold, Va.; a sister, Bernie Klinger of Muse; a brother, Mike “Butch” Dayak of Pittsburgh; and a grandson, Zachary Murray Bell.
Deceased, in addition to her parents, are her twins, Amy Jo Bell and Shaun William Murray.
She leaves behind her two granddogs, Jack and Jackie.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Sunday in Norris Funeral Services, Mt. Hermon Chapel, Danville. Additional visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., the time of service, Monday, December 17, in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Danville, with the Rev. Anthony Marques officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be made to DCC Educational Foundation, Amy Jo Murray Bell and Shaun William Murray Memorial Scholarships, Marge Murray-Eddie Dees Scholarship, Danville Life Saving Crew, Sacred Heart School, God’s Storehouse or Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
