Dennis Paul DelVecchio Sr.
Canonsburg resident enjoyed woodworking
Dennis Paul DelVecchio Sr., 67, of Canonsburg, passed away Saturday, December 15, 2012, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh.
He was born April 22, 1945, in Canonsburg, a son of the late Clyde and Stella Picio DelVecchio.
Mr. DelVecchio was a graduate of Canon-McMillan High School, Class of 1963.
He lived his entire life in Canonsburg, where he was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church.
Mr. DelVecchio enjoyed woodworking and his grandchildren.
On October 24, 1989, he married Lynn M. Zadach, who survives.
Also surviving are daughter Kelly (Michael) Palombo of Mt. Lebanon; son Dennis Paul (Chris) DelVecchio Jr. of Washington; three grandchildren, Tyler and Maria Palombo and Garrett DelVecchio; brother Wayne (Diane) DelVecchio of Canonsburg; sister Patricia Lynn (Ray) Leposky of Washington; and several nieces and nephews.

Anne B. Durko
1917 – 2012
Anne B. Durko, 95, of Indialantic, Fla., formerly of Burgettstown, passed on to her Lord Friday, December 14, 2012.
She was born March 27, 1917, in Slovan, a daughter of Cecylia and Walenty Brzeski.
Mrs. Durko had been a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Burgettstown.
She was a bookkeeper/assistant manager at Petrucci’s Market in Burgettstown until retirement, when she relocated to Indialantic.
Mrs. Durko was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church for 35 years, volunteering for 25 years at the HNJ gift shop and various church ministries, and was an active member of the Women’s Guild.
She gave much of her time and energy at her condominium complex, serving on the board and as a volunteer bookkeeper for 22 years.
Deceased are her husband, Joseph; son Raymond; sisters Viola, Cecelia, Julia, Mary, Nell and Josephine; and brother Joseph.
Surviving are son James Durko and wife Susan of McMurray and daughter Cecelia Burrows and husband Carl of Indialantic; three granddaughters, Heather Lane and husband James, Erin Morton and husband Peck of Atlanta, Ga., and Beth Wendt and husband James of Canonsburg; and a stepgranddaughter, Melanie Burrows and Todd of Pittsburgh. She has been blessed with five great-grandchildren and three stepgreat-grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by many.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 18, in Holy Name of Jesus Church, Indialantic.
Friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday in Lee & Martin Funeral Home, 73 Highland Avenue, Burgettstown. Private interment will follow in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery, Burgettstown.
She will be laid to rest alongside her husband and son.

Member of Bethel ?Presbyterian Church
Dorothy P. Haines, 84, of Washington, formerly of Prosperity, died Sunday, December 16, 2012, in Washington County Health Center, Chartiers Township.
She was born August 30, 1928, in Washington, a daughter of the late Alex and Mattie Briggs Pallett.
Mrs. Haines was a 1947 graduate of Trinity High School and a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church, Prosperity.
She was employed at Brockway Glass and later worked for United Dairy Farms.
On June 10, 1950, she married Gaylord Haines, who survives.
Also surviving are son G.W. (Helen) Haines Jr. of Prosperity; daughter Bonnie (Jay) Haines Anderson of Prosperity; and four grandchildren, Billy (Amy) Haines, Shannon (Matt) Book, Kelli Anderson and Kristin Anderson.
Deceased are a daughter, Rebecca Jane Haines; five brothers, Alvin, Melvin, William, Harry and David Pallett; and four sisters, Ida Pallett, Katherine Taylor, Jean Pallett and Bertha McNurlen.
Friends will be received from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Piatt and Barnhill Funeral Home, 420 Locust Avenue, Washington, where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 19, with the Rev. Mary L. Mizenko, 64, of Imperial, Findlay Township, died Saturday, December 15, 2012, in UPMC-Shadyside hospital, Pittsburgh.
She was born November 21, 1948, in Heidelberg, a daughter of Olga Sacco of Bridgeville and the late William Sacco.
Mrs. Mizenko worked side-by-side with her husband at Andy’s Candies.
She was a member of St. Columbkille Roman Catholic Church of Imperial.
Surviving, in addition to her mother, are her husband of 45 years, Barry Mizenko; sons Brent (Linda Moore) Mizenko of McDonald, Jason Mizenko of Moon Township and Kevin (Shannon) Mizenko of Cecil Township; grandchildren Abby, Elizabeth, Heidi, A.J., Jaden, Talan, Logan and Tanner; brother Gary Sacco; and two sisters-in-law, Jeanne Sacco of Oakdale and Letitia “Aunt Tish” Mizenko of Bavington.
Deceased, in addition to her father, is a brother, William Sacco Jr.

Philip Scarsella, 83, died Saturday, December 15, 2012.
He was a longtime resident of Peters Township, where many years were spent raising his family.
Mr. Scarsella was a graduate of Geneva College.
He retired from Washington Steel after 35 years.
Mr. Scarsella was previously married to Dorothy Scarsella, who survives.
Also surviving are children Philip J. (Judith) Scarsella of Cary, N.C., Paul J. (Linda L.) Scarsella of Bethel Park, Denise A. (Elbie) Yaworsky of Ambridge, Debra (Patsy) Pitzarella of North Strabane and Diana (Sgt. Maj. Randy) St. Cyr of Sumter, S.C.; sisters Helen Reindl of Kissimmee, Fla., and Mary Jane Monks and Rose “Roe” Stiffey, both of Midland; a brother, John A. Scarsella of Richmond, Va.; grandchildren Amy, Jennifer, Ashley, Sean, Michael, Eric, Matt, Andrew, Paul Jr., Jonathan, Joshua and Rebekah; several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; a friend, Mary Lou Long of Mt. Lebanon; and a friend, Bill.

Registered nurse was dearly loved
Janet L. Ansley Smith, 69, of Peters Township, passed away peacefully Thursday, December 13, 2012, surrounded by family.
She was born in Alliance, Ohio, a daughter of the late Virgil and Ruth Jenkins Ansley.
Mrs. Smith was the beloved wife of Lyle Smith; cherished mother of Shelly Morningstar of Budd Lake, N.J.; cherished stepmother of Jeffrey Smith (Margaret) of Moundsville, W.Va., Michelle Roach (Allen) of Albuquerque, N.M., and Brian Smith (D’Ann) of New Martinsville, W.Va.; adored grandmother of 11, Aaron, Ashley, Austin, David, Emily, Lara Ann, Lucy, Madeline, Matthew, Wade and Zachary; and dear aunt to MaryBeth Ansley of Winter Park, Fla., and Steve Ansley of Wilkesboro, N.C.
Deceased, in addition to her parents, is a brother, John.
She was a graduate of Alliance High School and Aultman Hospital School of Nursing in Canton, Ohio.
Mrs. Smith was a registered nurse and operating room supervisor at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus and a retired surgical sales representative with 3M.
She was a volunteer with Greater Pittsburgh Literacy Council, Murray Hills Nursing Home and American Heart Association.
Mrs. Smith was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by family and many friends.
A celebration of her life will be held at noon Saturday, January 26, in Center Presbyterian Church, 255 Center Church Road, McMurray.

Longtime member of St. Barbara Church
Hilda Malover Szyjko, 88, of South Fayette Township, died Saturday, December 15, 2012.
She was born June 21, 1924, in South Fayette, a daughter of John and Julia Malover.
She was the beloved wife of the late Charles Szyjko Sr.
Mrs. Szyjko was a longtime member of St. Barbara Church, Bridgeville.
Surviving are two sons, Donald (Linda) Szyjko and David (Roberta) Szyjko, both of Cecil Township; daughter-in-law Rosalyn Szyjko of Elgin, Ill.; four grandchildren, Rochelle (Howard) Renner, Kelly (Mike) Harim and Jessica and Bryan Szyjko; and four great-grandchildren, Dalton and Sabrina Renner and Michael and Kaitlyn Harim.
Deceased are a son, Charles Szyjko Jr.; sister Mary Kamovitch; and four brothers, John Malover and Frank, Louis and William Sray.
Her family appreciated the care Mrs. Szyjko received from the staff at Country Meadows.
