Grace P. Rippel
Grace P. Rippel, 97, of Washington, formerly of Forward Township, passed away peacefully Friday, December 28, 2012, in Southmont Presbyterian SeniorCare, Washington.
She was born December 29, 1914, on the family farm home in Forward Township, a daughter of the late William and Gertrude Tarr Rippel.
Ms. Rippel was a retired teacher with 40 years in Clairton and Bunola school districts.
She was a graduate of California State Teachers College and Penn State University.
Ms. Rippel was a former member of Sampson’s Mills Presbyterian Church in White Oak and Bethesda United Presbyterian Church in Elizabeth, where she was an elder and Sunday school teacher. She was also a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and Pennsylvania Retired Teachers Association.
Surviving are sisters Margaret J. Tignanelli of Elizabeth Township, Minnie M. Lehman of Forward Township, S. Ruth McGowan of Eighty Four and Lois R. Laird of Bentleyville; brothers Ralph Rippel of Forward Township, Albert “Bud” P. Rippel of Forward Township and Lawrence H. Rippel of Belle Vernon; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to her parents, are brothers Charles C. Rippel, William C. Rippel II, John Tarr Rippel and Christy “Tim” Rippel and sister Martha I. Briegel.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday in Paul E. Bekavac Funeral Home, 221 North Second Avenue, Elizabeth, PA 15037, 412-384-4344, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, December 30, with Pastor John Pipp officiating. Procession and burial will follow in Round Hill Cemetery, Elizabeth Township.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks memorial contributions be made in her name to Sampson’s Mill Church Missionary Fund, 1665 Lincoln Way, White Oak, PA 15131, or a charity of one’s choice.
