Geraldine M. Checco
Geraldine M. Checco, 82, of Avella, died at 10:01 a.m. Saturday, November 10, 2012, in Washington County Health Center, Chartiers Township.
She was born June 21, 1930, in Avella, daughter of the late John N. Sr. and Mary Ondrick Myers.
Mrs. Checco was a 1948 graduate of Avella High School.
She was a member of St. Michael Roman Catholic Church of Avella, Cross Creek Valley Senior Citizens and Moose Lodge 1564 of Wellsburg, W.Va.
Mrs. Checco was a lifelong resident of Avella.
She enjoyed going to the casino, playing cards and bingo and spending time with her grandsons.
In 1949, she married Frank Checco Jr., who died November 7, 1974.
Surviving are three sons, Frank Checco III, John (Kathy) Checco and James (Valerie) Checco, and two grandsons, James and Austin Checco, all of Avella; a brother, John N. (Darla) Myers Jr. of Avella; and two sisters, Marion (James) Gordon of Avella and Patricia (Kenneth) Junclaus of Titusville, Fla.
Deceased, in addition to her husband and parents, is a sister, Lorraine Myers.
Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday in Jerome A. Stefkovich Funeral Home Inc. 18 Campbell Street, Avella, where a blessing service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, November 13, with the Rev. Robert M. Staszewski officiating. Burial will be in St. Michael Cemetery, Avella.
