Josephine Renko, 93, of Strabane, passed away unexpectedly in her home Saturday, March 30, 2013. Remarkably, she lived independently until her passing.

Mrs. Renko was born January 6, 1920, in Strabane, a daughter of the late Joseph and Josephine Sedmack Delost, formerly of Strabane.

She was a 1939 graduate of Trinity High School.

Mrs. Renko was a life member of KSKJ Lodge, SNPJ Lodge 138, both of Strabane, and AFU Lodge.

She was employed by Canon-McMillan School District for 10 years as manager of Wylandville Elementary School cafeteria, in addition to being a homemaker.

During her retirement years, she enjoyed many family gatherings, baby-sitting her grandchildren, trips to Atlantic City, N.J., and Wheeling, W.Va., and caring for homeless and injured cats and animals with saintly kindness and unflinching dedication.

On October 7, 1942, she married Eugene Renko Sr. of Meadow Lands, her loving husband of 69 years, who passed away one year ago on March 28.

Surviving are a son, William (Catherine Katrencik) Renko Jr. of Chartiers Township; a daughter, Janice (Dennis) Martin of Peters Township; three grandchildren, Anne (Don) Cross, Matthew Martin and Michael (Robin) Martin; and three great-grandchildren, Morgan, Allison and Leia Cross.

Also surviving are Chessica and Sissy, her beloved house cats.

Deceased, in addition to her parents, are brothers Joe and Carl Delost and sisters Margaret Guadagni, Mary Fisher and Olga Florgancic.

At the request of Mrs. Renko, there will be no public visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, April 4, in St. Patrick Church, Canonsburg, with the Rev. Jack Batykefer as celebrant. Please meet the family at church at 9:15 a.m. Interment will follow at 11 a.m. in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Township. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be sent to FIX UR CAT, 186 Hill Place Road, Venetia, PA 15367, in memory of Mrs. Renko.
