John M. Sfikas
John M. Sfikas, 79, of Canonsburg, died Monday, April 8, 2013, in UPMC-Presbyterian hospital, Pittsburgh.
He was born January 25, 1934, in Canonsburg, a son of Michael and Aphrodite Scouloukas Sfikas.
Mr. Sfikas was a member of All Saints Greek Orthodox Church, Canonsburg.
He served his country in the U.S. Army.
Prior to his retirement, he sold insurance for Prudential Insurance Co.
Mr. Sfikas loved to dance and spend time with his family and friends.
Surviving are daughters Nancy Lynn Karafilis and husband Gus of Bridgeville and Cary Lee Sfikas and companion Tori Sandler of Minneapolis, Minn.; a sister, Rae Heon of Boca Raton, Fla.; four grandchildren, Elisa, Nicholas, Elaina and Karina; three nieces, Denise, Maria and Rosanna; and a nephew, Steven “Taso.”
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Freida Manolakis.
Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Sollon Funeral Home Ltd., Canonsburg, J. David Sollon, supervisor, Phillip L. Sollon, director. Trisagion services will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Additional visitation will be held from 8 to 9 a.m., the time of services, Friday, April 12, in All Saints Greek Orthodox Church, McMurray, with Father George Livanos officiating.
