Oakley A. Grimm

Oakley A. Grimm, 97, of Washington, died Tuesday, April 9, 2013, in Humbert Lane Personal Care Home, Washington.

He was born November 16, 1915, in Sparta, Prosperity, a son of the late James A. and Elizabeth Russell Grimm.

Mr. Grimm was a member of Faith United Presbyterian Church, where he was a trustee for many years.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II.

For 31 years, he worked as a machine operator for Hazel Atlas Glass Co. He also was employed for 16 years by Fairmont Supply Co.

Mr. Grimm was a charter member of South Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Department.

On December 10, 1942, he married Lotus Virginia Jarvis, who died December 13, 1991.

Surviving are a brother, James D. Grimm of Aliquippa; his longtime companion, Audrey Watt; a niece, Lisa Gnagey; and two nephews, Dennis and Nicky Zullo.

Deceased, in addition to his wife, are a brother, Lloyd R. Grimm, and a sister, Margaret Batson.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Hummell and Jones Funeral Home, 420 Locust Avenue, Washington, Thomas W. Hummell, supervisor, Douglas M. Jones, director, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 12, with Lay Pastor Linda Webster officiating. Interment will follow in Washington Cemetery. Full military honors will be accorded by the U.S. Navy and American Legion Post 639, Claysville. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Faith United Presbyterian Church, Washington.
