Lois Thelma King
Lois Thelma King, 87, of Hesston, died Wednesday, April 10, 2013, in J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon.
She was born November 10, 1925, in Washington, a daughter of Lawrence and Thelma Rumbaugh Cowden.
Mrs. King was a graduate of Hickory High School and was a homemaker.
She enjoyed quilting, crocheting and reading.
Before moving to Hesston, Mrs. King was a member of Crossroads United Presbyterian Church.
On June 19, 1946, she married Jesse C. King, who died August 29, 2001.
Surviving are a son, Jesse C. King Jr. (Annette) of Washington; two daughters, Karen E. King of Hesston and Dorris K. Hayden (James) of Huntington; two brothers, William (Lois) Cowden and Russell (Phyllis) Cowden; two sisters, Belva White and Evelyn Athey; six grandchildren, Sara Hayden, Matthew King, J.C. Hayden, Ian Hayden, Jessica King and Elyse King; four great-grandchildren, Jacob Hayden, Emilie Hayden, Aliss Hayden and Camden Henderson; and two brothers-in-law, Edward Schmidt and Jim King.
Deceased are two brothers, Alvin and Joseph Cowden, and two sisters, Ila Snyder and Nancy Schmidt.
Friends will be received from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., the time of service, Saturday, April 13, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, with the Rev. Scott Bunting officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Prospect Cemetery, Hickory.
