Mary B. Heaton

Mary B. Heaton, 62, of Washington, died unexpectedly Wednesday, April 10, 2013, in UPMC-Presbyterian hospital, Pittsburgh.

She was born July 9, 1950, in Washington, a daughter of the late Abraham and Bessie Baron Moses.

A graduate of Trinity High School, she received her bachelor’s degree from California University and her master’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh in social work.

She enjoyed spending time with her family, children and grandchildren. She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star.

A foster care supervisor for more than 20 years, she was employed by Children and Youth Services. She was very dedicated to foster children in the community, both at work and privately.

On December 6, 2001, she committed to her soul mate, Mary Anne Jankowiak, who survives.

Also surviving are a son, William (Tina) Heaton of Altoona; a daughter, Elizabeth Heaton of St. Petersburg, Fla.; a stepson, Chris (Tiffany) Jankowiak of Cecil; a stepdaughter, Michelle (Andrew) Jankowiak of Washington; two brothers, David B. (Bonnie) Moses of Columbus, Ohio, and Clayton J. (Carol) Moses of Austin, Texas; a sister, Sara Moses (Frank) Steratore of Pittsburgh; and four grandchildren, Victoria and Hunter Heaton and Jacob and Lucas Jankowiak.

Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 16, with the Rev. Thomas Bellhy officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
