Norma Bachkay
Norma Bachkay, 83, of Monongahela, died Thursday, April 11, 2013, in her home.
Born January 3, 1930, in Monongahela, she was a daughter of the late Ubaldo and Josephine Lisarelli Lombardi.
A 1948 graduate of Monongahela High School, she worked for seven years as the secretary for St. Anthony Catholic Church in Monongahela and then for more than 30 years as secretary for Transfiguration Catholic Church, retiring in 2010. She was a member of St. Damien of Molokai Parish, Transfiguration Church, in Monongahela and had belonged to its Altar Rosary Christian Mother Society.
Surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Linda M. and Gerard States of Brentwood and Patricia Stuart of New Eagle; four grandchildren, Corinne (Darren) Miller, Stefanie (Jeff) Koskoski and Amy and Patrick Stuart; a great-grandson, Evan Miller; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Frank Bachkay, who died November 24, 1994; a son-in-law, James Stuart, who died March 29, 2002; and a brother, Mario Lombardi and wife Albina Lombardi.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday in Marshall Marra Funeral Home, 216 Chess Street, Monongahela, 724-258-6767, marshallmarrafuneralhome.com. Funeral prayers will begin at 11:30 a.m. Monday, April 15, in the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Damien of Molokai Parish, Transfiguration Church, with her nephew, Father John Bachkay, as celebrant, and Father William Terza Co-celebrating. Interment will follow in Monongahela Cemetery.
