Raymond C. Gaines Sr.
Raymond C. Gaines Sr., 65, of Jackson Township, Greene County, died at 10 a.m. Sunday, April 14, 2013, in UPMC-Presbyterian hospital, Pittsburgh.
He was born June 14, 1947, in Waynesburg, a son of the late Archie Brady and Dorothy Utt Gaines.
Mr. Gaines lived in Waynesburg for several years, prior to moving to Jackson Township in 1979.
He was a former truck driver for Hoy’s Construction and Ready Mix. He was last employed by W.J. Mott Drilling in Huntington, W.Va., for about five years, prior to retiring in 1986. He operated Gaines Meat Market for about seven years.
Mr. Gaines enjoyed his time with his family and grandchildren, hunting and woodworking.
On December 6, 1966, he married Jo Lena Hullihen, who survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Jodi Gilbert of Pittsburgh; three sons, Raymond C. Gaines Jr., companion of Wendy Abbott of New Freeport, Brady, companion of Jackie Gilbert of Jackson Township and Randy, husband of Sarah Gaines of New Freeport; eight grandchildren, Lacie, Casey, Carlie, Jesse, Justin and Ryan Gaines and James and Brittany Gilbert; two brothers, Edward, husband of Gladys Gaines of New Freeport and Robert, husband of Jean Gaines of the state of Washington; two sisters, Hattie Roskelly of Bimington, N.Y., and Irene, wife of Roger Mason of Perry, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to his parents, are three brothers, Billy Joe, James A. and Johney W. Gaines and a sister, Beulah Leonard.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in Rush Funeral Home Inc. Rogersville, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 18, with the Rev. Vernon K.
