James Davoli Jr.
James “Jeep” Davoli Jr., 86, of Shinnston, W.Va., died at 9 a.m. Tuesday, April 16, 2013, in his home.
He was born January 29, 1927, in Worthington, W.Va., a son of the late James Sr. and Annetta Desist Davoli.
Deceased is his first wife, Eva Leota Scott Davoli.
Surviving are his wife, Brenda K. Smith Davoli; two sons, Danny James Davoli and companion Cindy Guseman and her son Jordan of Akron, Ohio, and Brian James Davoli and wife Mitzi of Bethel Park; a stepdaughter, Kimberly Wilson and husband Ricky of Shinnston; two grandchildren, James Davoli and wife Elizabeth of Columbus, Ohio, and Lauren Davoli of Bethel Park; a great-grandson, Dominick W. Davoli of Columbus; four stepgrandchildren, Sierra Holcomb, Skylar Holcomb, Max Michalski and McKenzie Michalski; two sisters, Catherine Woods of Shinnston and Louise Salvatore of Williamstown, W.Va.; an aunt, Jenny Condo of Patterson, N.J.; an uncle, Sam Desist and wife Treasa of Forrest City; and several nieces and nephews.
He also leaves his favorite dog, Baby.
Deceased, in addition to his first wife, are two brothers, Dominick and Michael Davoli.
He was a World War II veteran, having served with the U.S. Army Air Forces stationed in Okinawa, Japan.
Mr. Davoli retired from Consol Energy in 1984 with 40 years service, including work in the Owings, Williams, Robinson Run and Loveridge mines. He was a member of UMWA Local 9909, Fairview, and American Legion Post 31, Shinnston.
He loved to hunt, fish, garden and be in the outdoors.
Mr. Davoli was Methodist.
Friends may call from 1 to 4 and 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Perine Funeral Home, Route 19 South, Shinnston, where funeral services will be held at noon Friday, April 19, with the Rev. Austin Burroughs officiating. Full military honors will be accorded at the funeral home. At Mr. Davoli’s request, cremation will follow the services.
