John A. Tomich
John A. Tomich, 88, of Upper St. Clair, recently of Providence Point, died peacefully on the morning of Monday, April 15, 2013.
He was a dear son of the late Peter Michael and Neda Tomich and brother of the late Peter; husband of Mary P. Tomich; devoted father of Karen (the late Frank) Jeffe, Deborah (Robert) Lohman, Pamela (Bradley) Blumfeldt, Dean (Alene) Nancy and Marybeth; loving grandfather of Dean (Jill) Jeffe, Kristin (Phil Atlas), Keira (Mike Nowak), Jonathan, Amanda and Haley Lohman, Julia, Drew, Bradley and Emily Tomich; great-grandfather of Amara Nowak; and uncle of Larry, Lynn, Craig, Debra Jean and Tommy.
Mr. Tomich was born December 30, 1924, in Donora.
He was a former officer in the U.S. Army during World War II.
A graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, he was a transportation manager at U.S. Steel for 35 years and served 15 years as president of KST Industries.
Mr. Tomich spent three years at a very young age in his parent’s native country of Croatia. He became fluent in other languages and a quick study of European cultures.
He was a longtime member and usher at St. Louise de Marillac Parish and was committed to the Little Sisters of the Poor and other charitable organizations.
Mr. Tomich enjoyed playing golf with Mary at Rolling Hills Country Club and was an avid bridge player.
He never met a stranger he didn’t like and enjoyed knowing and being known to everyone he met. He will be missed dearly.
Funeral arrangements are by Beinhauer Funeral Home. Friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at 2828 Washington Road, McMurray, 724-941-3211.
