John Smagner
John Smagner of Ocala, Fla., formerly of Washington, passed away Sunday, April 14, 2013.
He was born in Washington, a son of the late Mike and Teresa Smagner.
Mr. Smagner was the husband of Shirley for 58 years; father of John (Terri), Joan and Michael (Tracie); grandfather of Heather, Kelly (Mike), Michael, Kyle and Brandon; great-grandfather of Tyler, Mya and Kaylee; and brother of Betty (Bob) Hildebrand and the late Matt, Mike, Honey, Jessie, Bede, Sonny and Teresa. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he served in the Pacific during World War II on the USS Downes.
He retired from Washington Steel after working at both the Washington and Michigan plants.
Mr. and Mrs. Smagner moved to Ocala in 2005.
