Caroline Jean Harpula Alonzo

Caroline Jean Harpula Alonzo, 92, of Langeloth, formerly of Burgettstown and Coraopolis, passed away Tuesday, April 16, 2013, in Forbes Hospice, Pittsburgh.

She was born October 4, 1920, in Langeloth, a daughter of the late Jacob and Nellie Yarosz Harpula.

Mrs. Alonzo was a parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church in Burgettstown.

She worked at Langeloth Post Office and Burgettstown Area School District.

She enjoyed baking and sewing.

On May 20, 1946, she married James Alonzo, who passed away July 14, 2002.

Surviving are a son, James J. Alonzo, M.D., of Australia and formerly of Pittsburgh; a granddaughter, Courtney Alonzo, currently studying law at Seton Hall University in Newark, N.J.; a sister, Jean Enkraft of California; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased, in addition to her parents and husband, are three brothers, Anthony, John and Joseph Harpula, and three sisters, Vicky Graczk, Mary Galan and Julia Krzeczowski.

Friends will be received from noon to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in Lee and Martin Funeral Home, 73 Highland Avenue, Burgettstown. A Mass of Christian Burial for her and her sister, Julia Krzeczowski, will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 20, in Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, Burgettstown, with the Rev. Donald Chortos as celebrant. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery.
