Ruth Romayne Evans
Ruth Romayne Evans, 82, of Brownsville, formerly of Malone Ridge Road, Canton Township, died Wednesday, April 24, 2013, in Donnell House, Washington, after having been diagnosed 50 years ago with multiple sclerosis.
She was born November 4, 1930, in Washington, a daughter of George D. Bungard Sr. and Grace R. Hatfield Bungard Nowlin.
Mrs. Evans graduated from Trinity High School in 1950 and was a homemaker.
She was a member of the Multiple Sclerosis National Chapter, AARP, Washington Senior Center and Center in the Woods, California.
Mrs. Evans also was a member of United Christian Church of California and a former member of Fairhill Manor Christian Church.
She enjoyed traveling worldwide, even while confined to a wheelchair, and also enjoyed wordsearch puzzles and bingo at the senior center.
On August 18, 1952, she married Harry E. Evans Sr., who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Harry E. “Butch” Evans Jr. and wife Marrie of Scottsdale, Ariz.; a daughter, Diane Yurkovich and husband Peter of Washington; a sister, JoAnne Lederhos of Bailey, Colo.; two grandchildren, Evan Yurkovich and Danielle Haugh; and three great-grandchildren, William Evans Haugh, Sophia and Henry Haugh.
Deceased is a brother, George D. Bungard Jr.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 29, with the Rev. Jana Quisenberry officiating.
