Adda R. Chatman Hargrove
Adda R. Chatman Hargrove of Washington passed away at 9:07 p.m. Tuesday, April 23, 2013, in Center for Compassionate Care, Mt. Lebanon, after a four-month illness.
She was born in Washington, a daughter of the late Wilkinson M. and Adda C. Thompson Chatman.
Mrs. Hargrove was a 1957 graduate of Trinity High School, Washington.
After graduation, she was employed as a nurse’s aide at Washington Hospital. She was also employed at RCA for a short time and at Drakenfield for 23 years until her retirement.
She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church.
After retirement, she enjoyed playing bingo, bowling in a league with her friends and working games on the computer.
She also enjoyed her monthly breakfast with her classmates, and her favorite place to go was Eat’n Park with her friends and family.
She loved her fun and memorable times with her children, grandchildren and her extended family.
She was married to James J. Hargrove, who died April 10, 1987.
Surviving are a son, James C. (Shellie) Hargrove III of Pittsburgh; a daughter, Nina M. Hargrove (Richard Porter) of Washington with whom she made her home; a brother, Chappie E. Chatman of Washington; three grandchildren, Nasya R. Hargrove of Washington, James A. Hargrove of Washington and Jade C. Hargrove of Pittsburgh; three sisters-in-law, Betty Chatman, Eleanor Chatman and Ann Chatman, all of Washington; and a niece who was more like a sister, Zella E. Howard of Washington. A host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews also survive.
Deceased, in addition to her husband, are five sisters, Margaret Hill, Ruth Chatman, Emma K. Chatman, Zella Wasler and Sarah Chatman, and seven brothers, Wilkinson, William, Johnny, Alex, Harrison, Tommy and Charles Chatman.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Warco-Falvo Funeral Home Inc., Wilson at East Katherine avenues, Washington, S. Timothy Warco, supervisor/director, Susan Falvo Warco, director, S. Timothy Warco II, director, where a blessing service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, April 29, with Father Lou Pascazi officiating.
