Michael A. Marchines
Michael A. Marchines, 31, of Washington, died Thursday, April 25, 2013.
He was born June 8, 1981, in Washington, a son of George M. and Cookie Margie Marchines of Washington, who survive.
Mr. Marchines was a 2000 graduate of Washington High School and attended California University of Pennsylvania.
He was currently employed by Strata Mine Services, Enlow Fork Mine, as an underground miner, following in his father’s, grandfather’s and great-grandfather’s footsteps as a coal miner.
Mr. Marchines was a member of Keystone Club and Independence Club of Washington.
He loved the band Phish and traveled all over the country to see their concerts. His favorite sports teams were Pittsburgh Penguins and Pittsburgh Steelers and he attended their games as time allowed. He enjoyed fishing and was an avid automobile enthusiast. He loved spending time with his dad and his Mustang collection. His friends were important to him and he would do anything he could to help them.
His favorite thing in the world was his niece, Baylee, who gave him the nickname “Goggie” when she first learned to talk. He became known as “Goggie” to everyone.
Surviving, in addition to his parents, are a sister, Nicole R. Marchines of Washington; paternal grandfather Mike A. Marchines of Daisytown; and a niece, Baylee Sky Marchines of Washington.
Deceased are his maternal grandparents, Nicholas and Mary Margie, and paternal grandmother, Helen Marchines.
Also deceased is his beloved dog, Nikita, whose ashes will be buried along with him.
Friends will be received from 1 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in John B. Greenlee Funeral Home, 2830 Main Street, Beallsville, where a blessing service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 30, with the Rev. Paul Grunebach officiating. Interment will be in Greene County Memorial Park, Morgan Township. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the Marchines Family, 454 East Prospect Street, Washington, PA 15301.
