G. Robert Jacobs Jr.
G. Robert “Bob” Jacobs Jr., 90, of McMurray, passed away Saturday, April 20, 2013.
He was born April 12, 1923, in Harrisburg, a son of the late G. Robert and Charlotte Kister Jacobs.
Mr. Jacobs was the beloved husband of Jane Page Jacobs; loving father of Judith Jacobs of Greenville, R.I., Linda Baumiller of McMurray and Robert Jacobs of York Haven; cherished grandfather of Rod Jacobs, Rolana Hoffman, and Joshua, Jacob and Grace Baumiller; and great-grandfather of Colton, Cason and Charlotte Hoffman.
After serving in World War II, he earned his degree in mechanical engineering from Penn State.
He worked as a process control/instrument engineer and gave freely of his spare time.
Mr. Jacobs’ lifelong dedication to the Boy Scouts began as a young man. He served on various state councils and as a troop leader to many, and was the recipient of the prestigious Silver Beaver Award. He encouraged the boys to strive for excellence and to always do their best and believed his purpose was to make the world a better place.
He served on the board of the Peters Township Sanitary Authority for 19 years and was a longtime member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 18, in Trinity United Methodist Church, McMurray.
