Andrew Zalom
Andrew Zalom, 83, of Clarksville, died Sunday, April 28, 2013, in Golden Living Center, Waynesburg, after a lengthy illness, with his daughters by his side.
He was born February 24, 1930, in East Bethlehem Township, a son of the late George and Mary Vasilchak Zalom.
Mr. Zalom was a 1948 graduate of Jefferson High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He worked as a coal miner at the former Gateway Coal Co. in Ruff Creek.
Mr. Zalom was a member of St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church in Brownsville, United Mine Workers of America and American Legion Hanson-Cole Post 330 in Fredericktown.
On November 19, 1955, he married Stella Kubasik, who died March 23, 2013.
Surviving are two daughters, Karen Zalom (Kevin Benson) of Lawrence and Andrea Zalom (Ed Sutter) of Baltimore, Md.; a sister, Barbara Novosel of Little River, S.C.; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are a son, Kevin Zalom, and two brothers, George and John Zalom.
Private services are being held in Behm Funeral Home, 1477 Jefferson Road, Jefferson, Gregory P. Rohanna, supervisor, with graveside military rites accorded by American Legion Hanson-Cole Post 330.
