Arthur Harold Graham Sr.
Arthur Harold Graham Sr., 94, of Washington, died Monday, April 29, 2013, in his home.
He was born February 11, 1919, in Reese’s Mill (Greene County), a son of the late William F. “Frank” Graham and Lizzie Orphanette Nelson Graham.
Mr. Graham served in the U.S. Army during World War II, where he received a World War II Good Conduct Medal, Victory Ribbon and Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon.
He worked for Jessop Steel as a crane operator for 39 years and served on the union committee.
Mr. Graham was Methodist and a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, a 43 year member of American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175, where he served on the firing squad for 18 years, and was a member of the Jessop Club.
He was an avid Pittsburgh Penguins fan, enjoyed watching his grandchildren’s sports games and enjoyed hunting when he was younger.
On May 29, 1940, he married Nellie Huffman, who died May 31, 1980.
Also surviving are a son, Arthur H. (Alice) Graham Jr. of Amity; a daughter, Shirley Korpus of Washington; five grandchildren, Michael (Jodie) Korpus, Kurt (Renae) Korpus, Kay (Michael) Locy, Tim Hatfield and Jeanne (Jim) Stolfer; and 12 great-grandchildren, Colton, Courtney, Garrett, Kelly and Sam Korpus, Chet and Brooke Locy, Ashley, Anber and Jarrett Hatfield and Abigaile and R.J. Stolfer.
Deceased are five brothers, Charles, Raymond, Frederick, Scott and Kermit Graham; a sister, Sarah; son-in-law Charles M. Korpus; and daughter-in-law Elizabeth Holland Graham.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Ave, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 3, with Pastor Linda Mankey officiating. Burial will follow at Rosemont Cemetery, Rogersville.
