Patrick Michael Hellmann
Patrick Michael Hellmann, 27, of Lancaster, passed away Sunday, April 28, 2013, after a brief illness.
He was born January 4, 1986, in Hershey.
Mr. Hellmann was a 2004 graduate of Hempfield High School and a 2009 graduate of Millersville University, where he received a bachelor of science degree in communication/public relations. While at Hempfield, he was a two-time Lancaster-Lebanon League football all-star. He was a four-year letterman in wrestling and a state medalist at 189 pounds. He accepted a scholarship at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown after entertaining numerous offers for both football and wrestling.
Mr. Hellmann was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan, attending games annually, braving the coldest weather Pittsburgh could offer. It was his hope to live in Pittsburgh one day. He had an infectious smile and a twinkle in his eye. He was a true friend to many and was once described as a foxhole buddy because he was the guy who would always have your back.
Mr. Hellmann loved road trips and was ready at the drop of a hat, always having a bag packed for just such an occasion. Having participated in several wrestling clubs in high school and college, he was always ready for an adventure and enjoyed sharing stories about his exploits. He had recently accepted a job in Wilkes-Barre and was preparing to move on to a new adventure in his life.
He previously donated time to the Hempfield Wrestling program and was currently involved in PAK, a charitable organization aimed at helping the Lancaster community. The family requests any memorial contributions be made to The PAK, who has established a site in his memory at https://youcaring.com/PatHellmann.
Mr. Hellmann enjoyed the outdoors and life in general. He loved his family and friends and was especially proud of his godsons, Logan and Carter.
He will be forever missed by his parents, Mike and Lynne Spence Hellmann, and his brothers, Matthew and Zachary. Also surviving are his maternal grandmother, Evelyn Spence, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Deceased is a brother, Andrew, who died in infancy.
