Retired chef was member of All Saints Church
Aristotle G. “Telly” Contis, 88, of Canonsburg, died Saturday, August 3, 2013, in Canonsburg General Hospital.
He was born March 15, 1925, in Vlahokerasia, Greece, a son of George and Dimitra Michalopolis Contis.
Mr. Contis was a member of All Saints Greek Orthodox Church in Canonsburg, AHEPA Chapter 156 and Manthyrea Education Society.
He enjoyed cooking, gardening and helping people.
Prior to his retirement, his career as a professional chef took him to several different area restaurants, including the Embassy Restaurant in Pittsburgh, the Mona Lisa Restaurant in White Hall, the Chateau Restaurant in Pittsburgh, Ernie’s Esquire in McMurray, Lou Kairys Restaurant in McMurray and Ritter’s Diner in Bloomfield.
On July 19, 1959, he married Evangeline Manolas, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, George Contis and wife Adrianne of Beverly Hills, Mich., and Dimitrios “Jim” Contis and wife Kathryn of Sarasota, Fla.; a brother, John Contis and wife Eleni of Dormont; four grandchildren, Alexandra, Nicholas, Aristotle and Audrey Contis; and many nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to his parents, are three brothers, Elias, Dimitrios and Peter Contis, and two sisters, Vasiliki Antonopoulos and Nicoletta Contis.
Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 9 to 10 a.m., the time of service, Wednesday, August 7, in All Saints Greek Orthodox Church, Canonsburg, with Father Sarantos Serviou officiating. Trisagion services will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the church. AHEPA service will be held Wednesday in Oak Spring Cemetery, Canonsburg. Interment will follow. Arrangements are entrusted to Sollon Funeral Home Ltd., 30 East College Street, Canonsburg, J. David Sollon, supervisor, Phillip L. Sollon, director.
