George W. Nixon Jr., 88, of Washington, died Saturday, August 3, 2013, in Washington County Health Center, Chartiers Township.

He was born February 19, 1925, in Washington, a son of George W. and Sarah Kerr Nixon.

Mr. Nixon was Roman Catholic and attended St. Hilary’s Church.

During World War II, he served in the Army Air Forces.

Prior to his retirement, he was the owner and operator of the automotive business, A.J. Parson’s Jeep.

Surviving are two sons, Martin G. Nixon of Atlanta, Ga., and Gary D. (Anita) Nixon of Pittsburgh; two brothers, James and Donald Nixon, both of Washington; a sister, Ellen Cape of Washington; four grandchildren, George, Heather, Joshua and Phoebe Nixon; four great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Evelyn Kramzer.

Deceased are his wife, Juanita, and three sisters, Marie Zack, Alice Aver and Lilly McIntosh.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Hummell and Jones Funeral Home, 420 Locust Avenue, Washington, Thomas W. Hummell, supervisor, and Douglas M. Jones, director, where a blessing service will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 7, with Father Thomas O’Neil officiating. Interment will follow in Washington Cemetery.
