Katherine Lillard Johnson, 89, of Francis Mine, Burgettstown, peacefully went home to be with her Lord Monday afternoon, August 5, 2013, in Donnell House, Washington.

She was born November 6, 1923, in Steubenville, Ohio, a daughter of the late James and Annie Mooney Lillard.

A graduate of Washington High School, she retired from Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School in Pittsburgh, where she was a teachers aid.

Mrs. Johnson was a member of New Hope Church of God in Christ, Francis Mine, where she founded and taught the Sunday school program because of her love for all kids.

Her husband, the Elder Mason Johnson, whom she married in 1955, survives.

Also surviving are a son, Mason Richard Johnson Jr. and wife Rose of Washington; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Frank Lillard Sr. of Francis Mine; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Deceased, in addition to her parents, are three sisters, Laura Foster Moore, Virginia Orison and Elsie M. Kinney, and four brothers, Howard Huggins, Ernest Lillard, and Jimmy and Johnny, who died in infancy.

Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday in Lee and Martin Funeral Home, 73 Highland Avenue, Burgettstown, where services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, August 10, with the Rev. James Johnson officiating.Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Burgettstown.
