Betty Evelyn Thomas, 91, formerly of Washington, passed away July 28, 2013, in Wingate Nursing Home, Hampden, Mass.
She was born May 21, 1922, a daughter of Patrick and Goldie Berdine.
Mrs. Thomas was a hairdresser for 44 years and owned and operated her own shop for 36 years.
She was an active member of First Christian Church, Washington, for more than 40 years.
Mrs. Thomas enjoyed cooking, canning and taking care of her beautiful rose garden. She loved her children and grandchildren, who were the joys of her life.
Surviving are a daughter, Sandra K. Belcastro of Wilbraham, Mass.; a son, Lowell P. Thomas (Roselyn Nicolella) of McMurray; four grandchildren, Rachel and John Belcastro, Jennifer (Vincent) Trapanotto and Matthew (Julia Broderick) Thomas; and three great-grandchildren, Chloe, Sophia and Lucia Trapanotto.
Also surviving are a brother, Kenneth L. Berdine; sisters, Pauline Glover and Irene Laddis; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are two brothers, Loyal and Harold Berdine; and a sister, Vera Stephenson.
There will be a memorial service at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 20, in First Christian Church, Washington. At the request of the family, burial will be private. Memorial donations may be made to First Christian Church, 615 Beau Street, Washington, PA 15301.
