Owned Toth’s Dairy Queen & Sizzle Kitchen for 37 years
Catherine Susan Toth, 84, of North Franklin Township, Washington, died Wednesday, August 7, 2013, at 3:40 a.m., in Washington Hospital.
She was born August 12, 1928, in Muse, a daughter of the late William and Rose Ann Boar Smith.
Mrs. Toth was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Washington.
In previous years, Mrs.Toth was employed by Continental Can in Canonsburg and attended beauty school in Washington, where she received her beautician license. Mrs. Toth, along with her husband, owned and operated their business, Toth’s Dairy Queen & Sizzle Kitchen, for 37 years on West Chestnut Street in Washington, retiring in 1990. She enjoyed playing bingo, going to The Meadows Racetrack & Casino, cooking, baking and going dancing with her husband on Saturday nights, enjoying the big band music. She also had a hobby of searching for four leaf clovers on the many trips she enjoyed with her husband.
On June 23, 1951, she married Joseph William Toth, who survives, enjoying 62 years of a wonderful marriage.
Also surviving are three daughters, Beverly (Ronald O.) Lewis, Diane (Mike) McKay and Kimberly Toth, all of Washington; two grandchildren, Jennifer Charles and Justine (Geno) Piscottano; and a great-grandchild, Jazmyn Charles.
Mrs. Toth was the last of her immediate family.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Julia (Edward) Bizzack; brothers John (Helen) Smith, Joseph (Ann) Smith, Steve (Blanche) Smith and William Smith, who died at the age of seven; sisters Elizabeth (Bruno) Rematt, Rose (Tony) Ambrose and Mary Jane (Vince) Ranone; and a brother; Charles (Alice) Smith.
Friends will be received from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday in Warco-Falvo Funeral Home Inc., Wilson at East Katherine avenues, Washington, S. Timothy Warco, supervisor/director, Susan Falvo Warco, director, S. Timothy Warco II, director. A prayer service will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, August 10, in the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Washington, with Father Don Chortos as celebrant.
