Longtime member of Bible Baptist Church

Opal M. Albert, 93, of Denbo, died Thursday, August 15, 2013, in her home.

She was born August 10, 1920, in Blainesburg, a daughter of the late George and Ethel M. Rice Porter.

A homemaker, Mrs. Albert was a longtime member of Bible Baptist Church in Hiller.

She enjoyed building puzzles with her family, collecting red birds, word puzzles, swimming and shopping at Walmart. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her dogs, Mickey and Mikey.

Deceased is her husband, Andrew E. Albert Jr., who died October 20, 1992.

Surviving are three daughters, Priscilla L. “Patty” Wright (Ronnie) of Appomattox, Va., Sandrea L. “Sandi” Baumgardner of California, who was her caregiver and was by her side when she died, and Shirley J. Kovach (Kenneth) of Vesta #6; two sons, Andrew E. Albert III (Vickie) of Pennsboro, W.Va., and Joseph J. Albert (Ginny) of Hagerstown, Md.; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a brother, Harry Porter (Gertrude) of Vesta #6; two sisters-in-law, Patricia Porter of East Millsboro and Nancy Porter of Lowhill; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased, in addition to her parents and husband, are infant daughter Andrea Albert, and four brothers, Robert J. “R.J.,” Walter “Beanie,” Alvin Porter and George Porter who was serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. when he was killed in action in Saipan during World War II.

Friends will be received from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Greenlee Funeral Home, 2830 Main Street, Beallsville, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, August 19.
