Army veteran was 40-year ironworker
Joseph C. Batove, 90, of Washington, died Friday, August 16, 2013, in Washington County Health Center, Chartiers Township.
He was born February 17, 1923, in Jerome, a son of Joseph and Flora Rice Batove.
Mr. Batove worked as an ironworker for Ironworkers Local 3 for 40 years.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served from September 18, 1943, until his honorable discharge February 3, 1946.
He was Presbyterian.
On September 3, 1943, he married Lois Cheesbrough, who died October 8, 2009.
Surviving are a son, Charles (Barbara) Batove of Hickory; two daughters, Lois Jo (Alan) Wood and Rebecca (Dennis Trimmer) Wotring; four grandchildren, Bill and Mark Wotring, Leslie (Gabriel) Markle and Christopher Batove; and three great-grandchildren, Cheyene, Monica and Brice Wotring.
Deceased are a daughter, Twila Batove; a brother, James Batove; and a granddaughter, Holli Batove.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 20. Burial will follow in Independence Cemetery, Avella.
