Joseph R. Duvall

Joseph R. Duvall, 61, of Pittsburgh, died unexpectedly Thursday, August 15, 2013, in his home.

He was born January 4, 1952, in Waynesburg, a son of Jane Durbin Duvall of Waynesburg and the late Melvin R. Duvall.

Mr. Duvall graduated from Waynesburg Central High School and graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1974, where he studied business management and participated in Army ROTC.

He worked in the wholesale grocery business for Blackwell and Stevenson Co. of Bridgeville. He also worked for Acme stores.

Mr. Duvall resided most of his life in Pittsburgh and was a member of First Christian Church of Waynesburg.

He enjoyed helping others. His many interests included writing poetry and watching the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers. He was an inspiration to all who knew him and loved him. He will be fondly remembered and sadly missed.

Surviving, in addition to his mother, Jane Duvall of Waynesburg, are sister Charlene Duvall Kendall (Bill) of Spanish Fork, Utah; two nephews, Daniel and Michael Duvall; and two great-nieces and four great-nephews.

Deceased is brother Larry Edward Duvall.

Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, August 22, in Behm Funeral Home Inc., 182 West High Street, Waynesburg, where a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Larry Douglas officiating. Condolences may be offered at www.behmfh.com.
