Louise Thomas “Tootie” Ritchie, 88, of Washington, died Tuesday, August 20, 2013, in her home.

She was born April 29, 1925, in Washington, a daughter of the late James S. Thomas and Roberta Conkle Thomas Closser.

Mrs. Ritchie was a 1943 graduate of Washington High School.

She sold Stanley Home Products for many years. During World War II, she served as an air-raid warden.

Mrs. Ritchie was a member of Church of the Covenant and Democratic Women of Washington County.

On August 25, 1943, she married Harry L. Ritchie, who survives.

Also surviving are son Ronald L. (Vickie) Ritchie of Prosperity; daughter Harriett (Dale) Smith of Fort Mill, S.C.; five grandchildren, Bryant Ritchie, Brandon Ritchie, Lori Balach, Christi (Van) Taylor and Kimberly (Mark) Hannan; and six great-grandchildren.

Deceased is her stepfather, Albert C. Closser.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, August 23, with the Rev. Kenneth Schott officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Care of Washington Health System, 155 Wilson Avenue, Washington, PA 15301; or to a veterans organization of the donor’s choice.
