Fan and owner of standardbred horses

Victor Gasbarrini, 73, of Canonsburg, passed away peacefully Thursday, August 22, 2013, in his home, surrounded by his loving family, following a brief illness.

He was born February 4, 1940, in Muse, a son of the late Giovanni and Maria Filauro Gasbarrini.

Mr. Gasbarrini lived his entire life in Muse and was a member of Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church and Muse Independent Club.

He was employed for more than 30 years at the former Forbes Steel Corp. and, prior to his retirement, he worked at St. Clair Hospital and Washington County Health Center.

Mr. Gasbarrini had been a fan and owner of standardbred race horses and enjoyed woodworking with many outdoor projects around his home.

On November 28, 1958, he married the love of his life, Lillian A. “Necca” Tatano, who passed away November 10, 2011.

Surviving are two daughters, Carla (James) Adams of Canonsburg and Dawn Marie (Joseph) Preteroti of Muse; two sons, Victor J. Gasbarrini at home and Dante (Carole Adams) Gasbarrini of Muse; grandchildren Heather (Spencer) Anderson, Brandon Sharer, Shelby Adams, Mekala and Dante Jr. Gasbarrini and Selina and Jordon Preteroti; three great-grandchildren; faithful brothers and sisters-in-law; two brothers, Joseph (Nancy) Gasbarrini and John (Ann) Gasbarrini, both of Canonsburg; two sisters, Antoniette (Steve) Vavrek of Strabane and Lola (Alan) Laskosky of Muse; and many nieces and nephews.

Deceased, in addition to his wife and parents, is sister Clara Leichty.

Friends are welcome from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Salandra Funeral Service Inc., Joseph P. Salandra, owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, 724-745-8120, where departing prayers will be recited at 9:20 a.m. followed at 10 a.m. Monday, August 26, by a Mass of Christian Burial in Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, Muse, with the Rev.
