U.S. Army veteran loved to fish and hunt

Walter Stephen Walker, 72, of Washington, passed away Thursday, August 22, 2013, in his home, with his family by his side, following a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s disease.

He was born October 23, 1940, in Prosperity, a son of Walter William Walker and Margaret Pearl Krugel Walker.

Mr. Walker served in the U.S. Army from November 18, 1958, until his honorable discharge February 15, 1962. He earned the rank of specialist, fourth class, and received a Good Conduct Medal.

He worked as a welder for Tri-State for many years and retired from Walmart, where he worked in maintenance.

Mr. Walker loved to fish and hunt.

On April 14, 1967, he married Joyce Salisbury, who survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Walter (Mandy) Walker Jr. and William Walker, both of Washington; daughter Donna (Randy) Heckman of Washington; and four grandchildren, Brandon and Chad Heckman and Ella and Calven Walker.

Deceased are two sisters, Elma Hart and Mona Trussell.

Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, August 23, in William G. Neal Funeral Home Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Three Rivers Hospice Patient Care Fund, 1195 Jacks Run Road, North Versailles, PA 15137.
