Karen Sue Jones Sotak
Founding member of BCR Lioness Club
Karen Sue Jones Sotak, 70, of Centerville Borough, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, August 27, 2013, in Jefferson Regional Medical Center.
She was born July 20, 1943, in Shirestown, a daughter of the late Carroll and Madge Marteney Jones.
Mrs. Sotak was a 1961 graduate of California Area High School and received an associate’s degree in accounting and bookkeeping from Penn Commercial.
In 1996, she retired from Bethlehem-Center School District, where she had been an administrative secretary with more than 30 years of service to the district. She had also worked in California Area School District and Kentucky Central Insurance Corp.’s office in California.
She was a longtime member of St. Mary’s Anglican Church of Charleroi and was a founding member of BCR Lioness Club.
On October 7, 1961, she married Michael J. Sotak, who survives. They celebrated 52 years of marriage.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are son Mark Alan Sotak and fiancée Nenamosha King of Jefferson; daughter Amy Urani (Silvio “Butch”) of Uniontown; four grandchildren, Britney Sue-Ellen Sotak Kino (Kory), Mark Andrew Sotak, Silvio Urani IV and Lyndsi Urani; great-grandson Emmit Xane Kino; sister Marlene Metzner Flenniken of Stow, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to her parents, is her beloved brother, Bob Jones, who was a very dedicated Marine.
Family and friends will be received from 5 to 7 p.m., the hour of a memorial service, Friday, August 30, in John B. Greenlee Funeral Home, 2830 Main Street, Beallsville.
