Private duty nurse enjoyed baking, knitting
Wanda Lee Lynch, 86, of Hanover, Md., formerly of Washington, died Thursday, August 29, 2013, in Morningside House of Friendship, Hanover.
She was born February 8, 1927, in Charleston, W.Va., daughter of the Rev. Huey A. and Maude O. Gillispie.
Mrs. Lynch was a member of Washington Christian Missionary Alliance Church and Grace Point Community Church of the Nazarene in Glen Burnie, Md.
She was a licensed practical nurse, serving as a private duty nurse.
Mrs. Lynch enjoyed baking and knitting, winning multiple blue ribbons for her afghans and sweaters at the Washington County Fair.
She was a member of Lagonda Neighborhood Club and Lagonda Homemakers’ Association.
On March 23, 1942, in Connellsville, she married Walter L. Lynch, who died August 25, 2011.
Surviving are three sons, Walter L. (Elsie) Lynch II of Marriottsville, Md., Charles H. (Linda) Lynch of Glen Burnie and David P. (Esther) Lynch of Long Beach, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Odessa (Tom) Shanahan of Canonsburg; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to her loving husband of 69 years and parents, are a son, Roger Albert Lynch, and a brother, Huey A. Gillispie Jr.
Friends and family will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in Hummell and Jones Funeral Home, 420 Locust Avenue, Washington, Thomas W. Hummell, supervisor, Douglas M. Jones, director, where services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 4, with the Rev. C.D. Crosscut and Pastor Philip Bolerjack officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray.
