Charles W. Kinkopf

Retired steelworker was WWII veteran

Charles W. Kinkopf, 92, of Benton, Ill., formerly of Claysville, died Thursday, December 5, 2013.

He was a retired steelworker for Universal Cyclops in Bridgeville for 33 years.

Mr. Kinkopf proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II in Germany, Italy and North Africa.

After retiring, he enjoyed woodworking, traveling and working on his farm.

He was a devoted husband and family man and was married for 65 years to Helen Wanczak Kinkopf, who is deceased. Also deceased are his daughter, Martha Blair; a son-in-law, David Smith; and a great-grandson, Marquin Williams.

Surviving are his children, Susan Smith of Claysville, Claudia (Joe) Rizor of Benton and Charles J.T. Kinkopf of Pittsburgh; nine grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, January 11, in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Claysville, followed by burial in Claysville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois, 204 Halfway Road, Marion, IL 62959.
