Irene H. Gretsky
Irene H. Gretsky, 84, of Canonsburg, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, February 3, 2013, in Canonsburg General Hospital. She had been a resident of ManorCare for the past five years.
She was born May 10, 1928, in Houston, a daughter of the late Andrew and Eva Hupchek Holik.
Mrs. Gretsky lived her entire life in Canonsburg and Houston and was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church.
She was a homemaker who, in her early years, had been employed at the former Canonsburg Pottery for 15 years and Continental Can Co. for three years, both in Canonsburg.
On September 26, 1959, she married John Gretsky, who passed away November 1, 1990.
Surviving are three daughters, Patricia (Steve) Gretsky-Williams of LaPlata, Md., and Paula (Brian) Hritsko and Pamela Gretsky, both of Canonsburg; six grandchildren, Kelsey, Kenzie and Logan Pape and Josiah, Natalie and Timothy Hritsko; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the last of her immediate family.
Deceased are two sisters, Sophie Brenan and Mary Cyprowski, and three brothers, Stephen, George and Andy Holik.
Friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Salandra Funeral Service Inc., Joseph P. Salandra, owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, 724-745-8120, where a blessing service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, February 6, with the Rev. Ray Trance officiating.
