Gregory Earl Rice

Gregory Earl “Greg” Rice, 44, of Washington, died unexpectedly Sunday, February 3, 2013, in his home.

He was born March 13, 1968, in Wheeling, W.Va., a son of Beulah Shreve Rice of New Cumberland, W.Va., and the late Herbert Earl Rice.

Mr. Rice was a member of Church of Christ in Chester, W.Va.

He was a graduate of Oak Glen High School in New Cumberland, graduating with honors. He was also a graduate of the vocational-technical school, receiving his degree in heating and air conditioning, and received a degree as a diesel mechanic.

Mr. Rice was a member of National Rifle Association and the Ruffed Grouse Society.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, kayaking and most anything that pertained to the outdoors. He enjoyed his many hunting trips with his cousins, Staley and Tim Jewell, and his many sightseeing trips with his family.

Mr. Rice had been employed since 2006 with Hill International Trucks Inc. in East Liverpool, Ohio, as their regional service director.

Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his fiancée, Jennifer Hatfield Maloy of Washington; sons Austin Rice and Nicholas Rice of East Liverpool; stepson Joey Maloy of Washington; brother Mark Riter of Middlebourne, W.Va.; and sister Dana Brookover of Washington, Ind. Several cousins, nieces, great-nieces and a nephew also survive.

He will also be sadly missed by his faithful companion, his dog Dude, and his two other dogs, DeSoto and Mikey.

Friends will be received from 2 to 6 p.m., the time of service, Thursday, February 7, in Warco-Falvo Funeral Home Inc., Wilson at East Katherine Avenues, Washington, S. Timothy Warco, supervisor/director, Susan Falvo Warco, director, S. Timothy Warco II, director, with Danny Hayes officiating. A graveside service will be held at noon Friday, February 8, in Springhill Cemetery, Joseph Mills, W.Va. Everyone should meet at the entrance of the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Jennifer Maloy in care of Warco-Falvo Funeral Home Inc., 336 Wilson Avenue, Washington, PA 15301.
