Daniel J. Barzanti

Daniel J. Barzanti, 82, of Bobtown, died Tuesday, February 5, 2013, in Madison Nursing Center, Morgantown, W.Va.

He was born February 11, 1930, in Merrittstown, a son of the late Samuel and Lada Burchianti Barzanti.

A U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean conflict, he was a coal miner, having retired from Shannopin Mine, Bobtown.

Mr. Barzanti was a member of United Mine Workers of America Local 6159 and Polish-American Citizens Club, both in Bobtown, and AMVETS Post 103 in Hopwood.

Deceased are his first wife, Atterina Longo, in 1980; his second wife, Helen Yasenosky, in 1992; a daughter, Diane Sesco, in 2012; four brothers, Don, George, Gino and Ralph Barzanti; and a stepson, Shawn Yasenosky.

Surviving are three children and their spouses, Tina and Ray VanKirk of Melbourne, Fla., Lisa and Leonard Novak of Bobtown and Daniel and Mary Jane Barzanti of Crestview, Fla.; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three stepchildren, Cheryl and Phil Cowan, Angie Conrad and Michelle Sayer and their families; a brother, Albert Barzanti of Mansfield, Ohio; and two sisters, Nida Sorovetz of Southgate, Mich., and Verna Grifasi of Burwick.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in Richard R. Herod Funeral Home, Point Marion and until 9:15 a.m., Friday, February 8, when a prayer service will be held, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Ignatius Roman Catholic Church, with the Rev. Lawrence V. Holpp as celebrant. Interment will follow in Greene County Memorial Park, Morgan Township, with graveside military honors.
