Margaret French McIlroy
Margaret French McIlroy, 84, of Washington, died Sunday, February 10, 2013, in Washington County Health Center, Chartiers Township.
She was born July 5, 1928, in Washington, a daughter of Robert A. and Geneva Burns French.
Ms. McIlroy attended Washington High School.
For many years, for many people, hers was the first face seen as she sat behind the receptionist’s desk at the Washington County Health Center. There, she worked as payroll clerk, retiring in 1995.
Prior to working at the health center, she worked as a secretary for her companion, Jim Houck, whom she had been with for 35 years. They were both employed by a major oil company in the seismographic department.
Surviving are a son, James French McIlroy of Zebulon, N.C.; a daughter, Colleen McIlroy Van Eman of Pontotoc, Miss.; her life partner, James Houck; three sisters, Linda Sroka (Paul) of Washington, Judy Sprowls of the state of California and Shirley Jacobs of Pittsburgh; four grandchildren, Mark and Justin Sanders and Shawn and Kyle McIlroy; and six great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a son, William Charles McIlroy, and a grandchild, Tyler Neal McIlroy.
