John Frederick Scholz

John Frederick Scholz, 81, of Washington, died Monday, February 18, 2013, in Canonsburg General Hospital. He had been in declining health.

He was born December 2, 1931, in Pittsburgh, a son of John J. and Magdalene Scholz.

Mr. Scholz was a veteran of the Marine Corps. For 33 years, he worked as an airline mechanic for Eastern Airlines.

He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Washington.

Mr. Scholz enjoyed model airplanes.

On November 12, 1955, he married Mary Helen Glad, who survives.

Also surviving are two sons, John Joseph (Tina) Scholz of Washington and Daniel James (Kathy) Scholz of Shelton, Conn.; a sister, Mary (Dick) Schmidt of Pittsburgh; and four grandchildren, Daniel, Michael, Jacob and Emily Scholz.

Deceased are a brother, Tony, and two sisters, Elizabeth and Josephine.

Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, February 22, in Immaculate Conception Church, with Father William Feeney as celebrant. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
