Eugene C. Brock
Eugene C. Brock, 91, of Houston, died peacefully in his sleep, Wednesday, February 20, 2013.
He was born September 16, 1921, in Washington, a son of the late Elza Ray and Viola Merril Brock.
Mr. Brock was a 1939 graduate of Trinity High School.
He had worked for Cooper Power Systems in Canonsburg, retiring in 1978.
Mr. Brock was a veteran of World War II, having served with the Army in Belgium, England and France.
He was a member of South Canonsburg Church, American Legion Post 902 of Houston and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 191 of Canonsburg.
Mr. Brock enjoyed woodworking.
On April 12, 1941, he married Sybil L. Hammond, who died September 22, 2001.
Surviving are two sons, David Brock and wife Melanie of Annapolis, Md., and Dennis Brock and wife Jacqueline of Meadow Lands; and six grandchildren, D. Scott Brock (Nicole), Matthew and Jacob Brock, Cheri Jankowski (David Barthelmes), Brenda Young (Joshua) and Jared Jankowski.
Deceased are an infant son, Eugene, two brothers and a sister.
Friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the time of service, Saturday, February 23, in McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, owner/supervisor, 27 Cherry Avenue, Houston, PA 15342, with the Rev. Steven Parkhill officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray. Full military rites will be accorded by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 191 in Canonsburg and American Legion Post 902 in Houston, combined honor guard.
