Nellie Albani
Nellie Albani, 98, of Scenery Hill, died Wednesday, February 20, 2013, in Southmont of Presbyterian SeniorCare, Washington.
She was born April 3, 1914, in Cokeburg, a daughter of the late Nicholas and Caroline Boccaline Cursi.
Mrs. Albani was a homemaker and a member of the former St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Cokeburg, now Ave Maria Parish in Bentleyville. She was an honorary member of Catholic Daughters of America and Sons of Italy.
She enjoyed crocheting and was known for making homemade gnocchi and spaghetti and meatballs with her special homemade sauce.
Mrs. Albani was dedicated to and dearly loved her family and was anxiously awaiting the birth of her first great-great-grandson. Always pleasant, good-natured and strong-willed, she received her driver’s license at the age of 50 and continued to drive until the age of 80, usually taking her friends and grandchildren wherever they wanted to go. Although she suffered the loss of her hearing and eyesight, in later years, she remained pleasant and good-natured and never complained.
On February 10, 1934, she married Frank Albani, who died October 18, 1993. After the death of her husband, she was able to move to her family farm, where she lived for the past 19 years.
Surviving are a daughter, Ethel Hendershot (Harold) of Scenery Hill, with whom she made her home; a grandson, William F. Hendershot (Brenda) of Scenery Hill; two great-grandsons, Brandon Hendershot (Tara) and Brent Hendershot (Amber); a sister, Mary Wasulko of Charlotte, N.C.; several nieces and nephews; and two lifelong friends, Ann Fidazzo and Nina Marinelli
Deceased, in addition to her parents and husband, are five brothers, Richard, Emmett, Albert, Virgil and Jacob Cursi, and two sisters, Ida Cursi and Irene Michan.
