Robert J. Morton
Robert J. Morton, 82, of Canonsburg, died Wednesday, January 2, 2013, in Canonsburg General Hospital.
He was born June 26, 1930, in Canonsburg, a son of the late Raymond and Margaret Emling Morton.
Mr. Morton was in the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean conflict in Germany.
He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 191, American Legion Post 902 and several other local social clubs. He also was a member of Canonsburg United Presbyterian Church.
Mr. Morton enjoyed playing golf.
Prior to his retirement, he worked at Jessop Steel.
Surviving are a son, Gerald Morton and wife Lynn of Paw Paw, W.Va.; a nephew, Kenneth Morton of Canonsburg; a neice, Margaret Slosher of Cleveland, Ohio, whom he helped raise; his companion, June Randolph; and several neices and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to his parents, are his wife, Wilhelmina Morton; a brother, Raymond Morton; and two sisters, Laverne Slater and Lorraine Allen.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in Sollon Funeral Home Ltd., 30 East College Street, Canonsburg, J. David Sollon, supervisor, Phillip L. Sollon, director, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 5, with the Rev. Doug Beltzner, pastor of Canonsburg United Presbyterian Church, officiating.
